At Greenlight, our bat surveys and services are incredibly popular, and we always want to make sure that they are as efficient and accurate as possible. This is why we are going to be purchasing new state-of-the-art infrared cameras to aid us with recording bats in the dark.
Night-time surveys are useful in confirming the absence or presence of bats in a building or a tree. The confirmation also includes the specific species of bat, how many bats and the type of roost that is present.
What Does Our New Infrared Equipment Do?
Canon XA40 Camcorder
The ultra-compact Canon XA40 camcorder has an infrared mode which will make it possible to capture video in low to no light conditions. The UHD resolution and high magnification provides full high-definition image quality which will allow us to competently identify any bats. The camcorder also features a 29.3mm wide angle and the option to record in slow and fast motion modes, which will work well together with the bats we encounter.
IR Floodlights & Battery Packs
Infrared Illuminators and Floodlights will provide us with a strong light during our night-time surveys. They are designed for both indoor and outdoor use, so will be able to withstand any weather conditions, especially with their durable construction. The battery packs we will buy for these floodlights are high capacity which will give us up to 36 hours of continuous power.
Tripods to Mount Equipment
To complete our new infrared equipment haul are new tripods which will be used to mount our apparatus. By using these stands, we will be able to record for longer and capture more usable footage. The tripods we have chosen are easily portable yet stable and provide great flexibility with different standing positions available for the equipment.
Professional Bat Surveys from Greenlight Environmental
By purchasing and investing in new technology, we can enhance our capabilities and offer our clients the most efficient bat surveys. We are excited for this new equipment to arrive so we can start using it on the next night-time surveys.
