Conservation Efforts from Greenlight Environmental

Carbon Balanced Offsetting

We offset our carbon emissions through a tree planting scheme with World Land Trust. We believe that responsibility has to be taken for our impact on the climate and, by offsetting our carbon emissions, we can help contribute to wildlife conservation.

Many habitats are threatened due to emissions and can be protected through schemes such as this one. We are proud to be a part of this and knowing that we are enabling the regeneration of degraded habitats.

Conservation Charity Volunteering

All of our ecologists are encouraged to volunteer for conservation charities. Our team regularly volunteer for the Suffolk Bat Group, participating in bat box checks, harp trapping sessions and fundraising opportunities. Also, we take part in voluntary bat roost visits through Natural England and the Bat Conservation Trust (“BCT”).

Monitoring Animal Populations

In addition to monitoring bat populations, including regularly observing the bat boxes throughout Thetford Forest, we also contribute to monitoring other animal populations in conjunction with conservation charities.

Together with the Suffolk Wildlife Trust (“SWT”), we conduct dormouse surveys and nest box checks to stay on top of their local populations. Similarly, our bird surveys are sometimes conducted with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (“RSPB”) to observe numbers and species.

Finally, the Suffolk Community Barn Owl Project (“SCBOP”) is dedicated to the conservation of barn owls, erecting barn owl nest boxes throughout Suffolk and using them to monitor local populations. Together with SCBOP and the British Trust for Ornithology (“BTO”), we have been helping monitor and ring barn owls over the years.

Our Mission

Amongst our busy schedules helping clients with their projects and developments and conducting necessary surveys and assessments, we will always find the time to volunteer and make the conscious effort to help the planet.
