After an incredible 2023, we started this year off by expanding the ecologist team. We welcome Harriet Wishart, our new Assistant Ecologist, to the team and are excited to watch them grown.
Start of Harriet’s Career
Harriet started their career studying Zoology at the University of Reading, where ecological consultancy was recommended to them as a carrier due to Harriet’s particular interest in how development effects wildlife in the UK.
Wanting to further their studies, Harriet then went on to study Species Identification and Survey Skills at master’s level, which included a placement in industry for 6 months.
Harriet graduated at the end 2022.
“ I’m delighted to be joining the Greenlight team, and to be continuing the process of learning within the field I love. I aim to improve my knowledge and understanding of a wide range of wildlife and habitats, allowing me to grow as an Ecologist and to take on more responsibilities. “
What Does an Assistant Ecologist do?
The role of an Assistant Ecologist involves conducting surveys on development sites to assess the protected species potential and habitats present. Harriet will be writing reports, recommending mitigation and enhancements, and improving her skills as an Ecological Consultant.
“I have worked in consultancy since the start of 2023 and have loved every minute of it!“
Hobbies & Ambitions
Harriet loves being out in nature, specifically the water. During their spare time, you’ll find Harriet kayaking with her family in the Norfolk broads and going on lots of walks.
“ I am looking forward to getting involved in volunteering locally, and getting out with the Norfolk and Norwich Bat Group. I enjoy reading, playing guitar, and running tabletop games for friends and family in my spare time.”
Greenlight are thrilled to be expanding and are looking forward to Harriet joining the team. If you need any ecological surveys, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
